Freedom From The Darkness…
Have you ever been in such a deep dark pit that you just didn’t want to wake up in the morning? I have. Many have. There are things we can do on a daily basis so we don’t get to that darkness. We can add light in simple ways and find our freedom of thought again.
The Darkness Takes Over…
My heart is heavy on hearing about another suicide among celebrities. Yes…because of their famous names, they are in the news, but there are so many others, feeling there is no way to stop the pain, and they take their own lives.
I Don’t Judge…
I’ve been there. I’ve had those dark thoughts. Once, when I was in a severely abusive relationship and was so brainwashed I saw no way out. And another time, after a surgery mistake that left me with severe nerve damage and atrophy, which lead the medical specialist to tell me that their prognosis was… I would loose the use of the right side of my body, be in a wheelchair and on medication the rest of my life… Those are times when we just can’t see the light and we want to make it stop…now.
I understand that emptiness…that darkness…that feeling of not wanting to be alive anymore. Satan has taken over and is consuming our every thought. He’s strong, but our God is stronger. We just have to ask. And keep asking! And asking and asking!!!
Reach Out To God…
I remember kneeling and sobbing…”God I can’t do this on my own. I need you. I need you to take this darkness and pain from me. God…I don’t even know who I am anymore. I don’t even know what I want or what to ask you for. You know my needs better than I do Lord. Please…help me to listen and to hear you Lord, and to follow your guidance. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Take Care Of Yourself…
Taking care of ourselves isn’t being self-absorbed, it’s being healthy….Spending time with God-(I talk to him throughout the day)… healthy eating habits, (does that mean no splurges, nope, I’m sipping on a ginger beer as I sit by the lake writing this)… exercise (kayaking and walking this weekend)… keeping yourself and home environment healthy, (Young Living Essential Oil Products for this Mom/Grandma)… reading, (The Bible, Max Lucado, Andy Andrews/Napoleon Hill/etc.)… healthy relationships, (my children, grandchildren, siblings & friends)… setting boundaries with the people in our lives, (family, friends, & business relationships).
All of these things set us up for a mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually healthy life. A life where darkness doesn’t take over, because we are constantly adding more and more light to it. Which brings us the Freedom to enjoy our lives to the fullest.
Baby Steps To The Light…
You start by taking baby steps… Pouring your heart out to God and let him comfort you. And he will. Read a book on what you are going through so you understand that you aren’t alone. Tell yourself in the mirror every morning; “I love you. It’s going to be okay.” Clean up bad habits. De-clutter your space. Get out in nature, it’s very therapeutic.
Take and use all natural healthy products to support your home, emotions, body and vulnerabilities right now. Set boundaries. Instead of saying yes when you mean no, just say no. It’s freeing! And it gets easier the more you do it.
Reach out and get help. It’s not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength. A sign that you know this darkness isn’t you! It’s just an accumulation of YUK in your life and you need help getting through it. Layer by layer.
What did I do to get through it….I did group counseling, personal counseling, affirmations, reading, prayer, natural health products, I helped people in need and anything else I could get involved with. I was determined to get better. I was determined to be healthy and happy again. I succeeded!!! And so can You!!! Freedom is always worth the cost!
